Wall Expressions Inc., a local faux finish art and design firm, is featured in the 2011 Atlanta Symphony Decorators' Show House & Gardens. The show house is considered to be one of the top 10 in the nation and showcases the best designers and ideas in their region. With award-winning designer Brenda Zaharchak of Noelle Michael Interiors, Karen Lutz of Canton, artist and owner of Wall Expressions, created a custom faux finish for the walls of the Garden Room. The design, Ms. Lutz said, supported the room's "earthy, natural and sun-kissed surfaces." The show house is open through May 8, and all proceeds benefit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Education and Community.

Wall Expressions has been asked to participate in the inaugural Art & Design Show House May 7-22, 2011 in Marietta. Given the guest bathroom, we've been asked to recreate on the walls a floral pattern from the linens selected for the bedroom. See a photo of the pattern in the portfolio and on the blog pages.
“We have put our own creative spin on the typical ‘show house’ by incorporating other forms of the arts,” said Kathy Kuruc, one of the project’s lead designers. “We decided to have the house showcase all original artwork by some wonderful artists in several different mediums. The designers are some of the best in our area and have done work all over the country.”

Come see our finishes at the 'Gone With The Wind' exhibit, an historical and modern interpretation fo the famous house we saw in the movie! The Twelve Oaks Plantation inspired exhibit will feature an antebellum home that will contain two separate spaces based on the original "Gone with the Wind" set design. The historic side of the house will be decorated as it may have been in pre-Civil war Atlanta and the modern space will be an interpretation of how the space might appear today." The interior design will be a collaboration of Barclay Stone and Barbara Heil-Sonneck. Costumes and window treatments/bedding will be created by Kathy Antar of the Sewing Studio. “What mood are your walls? When you walk in the door, do your walls tell you to relax, or do they send you straight for the Tylenol in the kitchen cabinet? Plain, white apartment walls may say, “I‘m cold and bored,” or your concrete-locked loft with that tre-chic [sic] exposed brick may say, “I’m sooo dry.” A professional painter can give your walls an entirely new mood and create the illusion of more space." “Sandra Baird knew she wanted to have a yellow kitchen when moving to her new home in Towne Lake Hills North in 1999. The color had to be just right - a bright and inviting color that draws a positive feeling even on a rainy day. "I like for people to feel welcome in my home, not for it to be showy," she said. Seeking a relaxed atmosphere while maintaining a classic look, Mrs. Baird sought the help of a professional for the first time in her life to find the perfect yellow and make plans for the new house, taking into consideration the flow of color from room to room. The professional who would step in and make sense of the project was Karen Lutz of Canton.” (Wall Expressions is the feature story)
